Lavatera is perennial, what is known about it?

Perennial Lavatera belongs to the Malvaceae family. Lavatera pleases with its flowering from June to frost.

Growing and care

Perennial Lavatera unpretentious in care, it does not require special knowledge and conditions, agricultural technology. It grows well on different soils, the main thing is that the earth is at least slightly loosened for better air permeability. You can add a small amount of sand and humus in equal parts to your garden soil. Lavatera is distinguished by its resistance to drought, during watering to prevent excess moisture. In the fertilized area, the flowers of the lavatera have a brighter color, the stems are powerful.

For planting, it is better to choose sunny or slightly shaded areas. If there is a lot of shade, this is bad for flowering. Lavater seeds are planted in April or early May. Seedlings appear quickly enough. In autumn, the lavatera self-sows. Seeds ripen 30 - 40 days after the beginning of flowering. They are easy to recognize; a green box containing seeds remains in place of the flower. They can be plucked and sown anywhere else.

The buds that have already bloomed need to be removedb. Otherwise, they not only do not decorate the appearance of the lavater, but also harm the plant. Rain or dew turns them into a sticky slimy mass that leaves burns on the lavater.
Lavatera is used for single or group plantings; very original bouquets are made from flowers.
